ABOUT CHARLESTON TOWER/APPROACH

CRW (Charleston Tower/Approach) is located at Yeager Airport in Charleston WV, the State Capitol. CRW is a level 7 tower and radar approach control. The airspace surrounding CRW is Class "C" airspace. Our runway configuration consists of crossing runways, with the longest one being 6302' long. We have 1 radar site located at Yeager Airport, which feeds our ARTS IIE radar system. Charleston approach control airspace extends from Yeager Airport 60 miles SE, to 24 miles NW, 43 miles NE and 40 miles SW from the surface to 10,000 feet MSL (Mean Sea Level). We have numerous satellite airports within our airspace with Beckley and Summersville WV airports being the busiest.  Twentyfour controllers work at our facility, which operates 24 hours a day.  For More information on Yeager Airport go to AirNav.
