Yeager Airport

(12-01)

Yeager Airport was dedicated as "Kanawha Airport" on November 3, 1947. The name of the airport was later changed in honor of USAF Brigadier General Charles "Chuck" Yeager. General Yeager grew up in nearby Hamlin, West Virginia and he was the first man to break the sound barrier just one month prior to the airport's dedication ceremony.

In the picture, runway 15/33 (4750' long) is left of the main terminal and runway 5/23 (6302' long) sets to the right.
